Case in point: Notice the lovely red curtains that framed our window in our Rome hostel. They were connected to the wall via a large piece of wood framing.
During our last night Mickey went to open the curtains to get the windows opened. As he did he heard a loud pitched "creeeaaaakkkk" coming from above. Just in time he looked up to catch the large wooden platform and the curtains all at once! Somehow the entire piece had become disconnected from the wall!
He screams for me and I look up just in time to see him holding this big piece of wood and giant red curtains! But, this isn't the funniest part. When Mickey ran down to tell the front desk they came back upstairs with him to view the damage. As soon as they walked through the door and the guy looked at the curtains laying across our bed he put his hands on his head and exclaimed, "Momma Mia!" I was almost in tears laughing so hard!
Finally, what does all of this have to do with a petrified croissant? Well, that's exactly what we found lying on top of the wooden platform. Looks like someone got into a food fight and never cleaned up the evidence!
The Petrified Croissant
(You can barely see it there peeking out from the wooden platform)

Oh, and when I called my mom laughing hysterically at the reaction of the front desk guy I told her there was a petrified hot dog bun in our curtains. A few minutes later confirmed it was actually a croissant! What the heck was I thinking? We're in Italy...why would there be a hot dog bun in our curtains?
I don't know what to say about this whole ordeal?! Falling curtain, petrified croissants? Very much Twyford!
